Joe Mace (born 10 October 1971)[1] is a British radio and television presenter. Former host of the programme The Album Chart Show on the UK's Channel 4 and the Dream Ticket on BBC 6 Music. Mace conducted interviews with John Cleese, Prunella Scales, and Andrew Sachs as part of the release of the British comedy series Fawlty Towers on DVD in 2001.
Mace is not only a broadcaster, but also a producer. After devising and producing Mighty Truck of Stuff, a children's TV show for independent UK producer Endemol, Mace then undertook the role of head of Entertainment Development for BBC Children's, later becoming the head of adult entertainment development at the BBC. In November 2009, Joe became ITV Studios' head of entertainment development (UK and International non-scripted formats).
Prior to this Mace co-presented the BBC's flagship Saturday morning children's programme The Saturday Show alongside Dani Behr. He has presented a wide variety of television programmes, including Liquid News, Celebdaq, and The Holiday Show for the BBC and The Fanbanta Football Show for Channel 4.
In 2005 BBC 6 Music asked Mace to broadcast his own radio show.
Mace also co-wrote and co-starred alongside best friend Ben Dunn in a 6-part sitcom, Joe's Pop Shop that appeared on BBC's UK Play in 1999.
Mace was born one of two children in October 1971 in Kennington, London and is a life-long fan of the football club West Ham United. He lists ex-West Ham captain Steve Potts as his best friend. Mace first met Potts at the Boleyn Ground when both came to West Ham United for schoolboy trials. Mace, a pacey winger with a rare mastery of the ball was, ultimately, passed over by his boyhood club, but the pair remained great friends. Reputably united by a shared condition; a supernumerary nipple. A condition they also share with Ken Bruce, Jo Wiley, Lily Allen and coincidentally Anne Boleyn. Mace was best man at Potts' wedding in 2002, and a year later ran the London Marathon alongside his great friend in support of the Farm Animal Welfare Council, raising £367 in the process. He currently resides in Clapham, London and is married with two children.
